Entertaining Adelaide’s South.
The Hopgood Theatre is located on the Southern side of Adelaide just 30 minutes from the Adelaide Central business District. The theatre is named after Dr Don Hopgood and his late wife, Raelene for their considerable services to the community and art scene.” The Hopgood theatre is a fully equipped multi purpose art centre and can accommodate a diverse range of conferences, performing arts, film screenings, seminars and product launches.
Centrally located in the heart of the Noarlunga Centre next to Colonnades Shopping Centre it is within easy walking distance to the main retail shopping precinct and cultural attractions. The Venue draws on a local population and surrounding districts of 170,000.
Arts Centre Reference Group
Working with local community members to ensure the Arts Centre continues to meet the community’s arts and cultural expectations.
The current members are:
Hon. Donald (Don) Hopgood AO, BA (Hons) PhD BTh (DEPUTY CHAIRMAN)
Don worked as a secondary school teacher and university tutor before being elected to the South Australian Parliament in 1970. Don served in parliament for over twenty years, holding various ministerial portfolios including development and mines, education, environment, water, emergency services, and health. Don was Deputy Premier for seven years between 1985 and 1992. Between 1997–1999 Don was the Moderator of the Uniting Church SA Synod. Recently Don has been teaching courses at the College for Seniors and the University of the Third Age, has been researching the history of jazz in South Australia and providing hospital chaplaincy service.
Harry is the Arts Co-ordinator at Tatachilla Lutheran College, McLaren Vale. He also has a long involvement in community arts, being a founding member of both OPUS Performing Arts Community and Axis Theatre Company, Community Co-ordinator for COME OUT Youth Arts Festival, and Drama Adviser for the Education Department. He has been a resident of what is now The City of Onkaparinga for almost 40 years.
Jason is currently serving as Team Leader; Arts & Cultural Development for the City of Onkaparinga and has tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal Studies, Social Work and Public Sector Management and comes to the role with a passion for the arts and cultural development after having been the State Manager for Innovative Community Action Networks (ICANs); a state government initiative that supports disengaged young people to stay positively engaged in education and community. Jason has lived in the City of Onkaparinga for thirty plus years and has a real passion to ensure that the South continues to develop a thriving arts community and is a creative and vibrant place to work, play and live.
Bob has been involved in theatre since his 9 children started to develop the acting bug. Working with Opus, Might Good Talent School and many others building sets volunteer board member and all facets of the performing arts. Two years ago Bob started producing and presenting on community radio TRIBE FM and supporting publicity and promotional activity in addition to being part of many other community groups he is a carer for his wife.
Danielle is a visual artist with a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Applied Design (in the medium of photography) she has experience both co-ordinating exhibitions and exhibiting in group and solo shows. She has previously worked at leading contemporary art gallery Greenaway Art Gallery, for the statewide visual arts festival SALA Festival, and have just returned from 2 years in Whyalla where she was the Creative Producer at the youth arts organisation D’faces of youth arts. Whilst in Whyalla she was also a member of the Country Arts SA reference group for the Middleback Theatre.

How to find us
Ample parking in close proximity to the venue.
Wheelchair access is an important aspect of Country Arts service to patrons. Mobility impaired patrons can be comfortably seated in the theatre, and there are dedicated toilet facilities and car parking spaces. Baby change tables are available.
