About

Cultural Knowledge meets contemporary truth-telling under an open sky.
Written by Tracey Rigney (Wotjobaluk/Ngarrindjeri) and directed by Glenn Shea (Wathaurong /Ngarrindjeri)

Kumarangk: Sisterhood brings together theatre and contemporary dance to tell two stories deeply connected across time, place and resistance. Bear witness to the intimate story of the Ngarrindjeri women who resisted the building of a bridge across sacred waters to Kumarangk (Hindmarsh Island) and a re-imagining of the Ngarrindjeri creation story of the Seven Sisters.

Performed outdoors, this is an unforgettable theatrical event presented by Country Arts SA that explores the collision of cultural ways and colonial power while celebrating the stories that have always belonged to Kumarangk.

Gather, reflect and honour beneath the open sky.

Contains strong language. Utilises strobe effects and theatrical haze. Aboriginal people and/ or Torres Strait Islander people are advised that the production contains names and depictions of deceased Aboriginal people and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
