Southern Adelaide’s much-loved Hopgood Theatre is raising the curtain on a bold new era.
After a stunning $6 million transformation, the theatre returns with a Grand Opening Gala on Friday 24 October.
This will be an unforgettable evening of gala performances in the main theatre hosted by Helpmann Award winner Michael Griffiths and acclaimed cabaret darling Amelia Ryan.
A very limited number of free public tickets will be released on Wednesday 10 September at 10am right here on this page.
If you miss out on the gala, don’t worry—Hopgood is throwing the doors wide open for a free Community Open Day on Saturday 25 October.

Our box office opening hours are 11am to 4.30pm Wednesday to Friday and 1 hour prior to performances.
Parking is available at the Colonnades Shopping Centre car park.

We’re excited to announce that construction of the $6 million Hopgood Theatre Refurbishment has been completed! We’re now preparing the much-loved Noarlunga Centre venue for its grand reopening on 24 October 2025 – stay tuned for updates. In the lead-up to opening, our team is busy setting up staff, commissioning equipment and services, and providing essential training on all the new systems.
The comprehensive renovation has transformed the theatre with new flooring, enhanced lighting and sound systems, improved bathrooms, a revamped front of house and bar area, and superior backstage facilities. Accessibility has been significantly improved with 10 new wheelchair and companion seating spaces and wider doorways.
The former TAFE SA Lecture Theatre has been converted into an intimate 152-seat performance space, complete with brand new seating and upgraded audio, lighting and acoustic systems.
Visitors will notice the theatre’s bold new direction immediately with striking pink exterior signage and a colourful theme that continues throughout the interior spaces. The transformation has been carefully crafted to retain the impressive and celebrated architectural elements of the existing building.
Country Arts SA will continue managing the theatre’s operations under a new 3-year agreement with the City of Onkaparinga, ensuring continuity for the venue that they have managed since 2008.
