Country Arts SA, Arts and Cultural Development Officer, Aysha Herrmann and local artist Suzanne Macpherson attended the recent Live Longer Carnival in Berri. Alysha and Suzanne provided hands on painting experience for children at the carnival and promoted the upcoming ‘Riverland Mob’ exhibition at the River Lands Gallery as part of NAIDOC in 2013. ‘Riverland Mob’ will include traditional and contemporary visual artwork by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living in the Riverland.
The Live Longer Carnival is part of the ongoing ‘Keeping our Families and Children Strong’ program promoting healthy lifestyle choices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout the Riverland in 2013. The event was hosted by comedian Kevin Kropinyeri and the carnival included breakdancing workshops, football and netball clinics, musical entertainment and a variety of stalls.
