Extraordinarily fun theatre for 4-8 year olds

There are a few days of the year that children get excited for; Easter, Christmas, but most especially their birthday! Birthdays are all about you! While some people countdown the days to the celebration others dread the thought of being in the centre of attention for an entire day.

Especially on Birthdays by the PaperBoats addresses the ups, downs and roundabout of birthdays through a pair of twins that are about to have their sixth birthday. Like most twins they have a lot of things in common, however, they do not have a similar opinion about their birthday. One of them can’t wait for the day while the other dreads the mere thought of it, as Stephen finds living in the shadow of his twin sister a more comfortable place to be.

Created by one of the country’s leading children’s theatre producers, Dave Brown (former Artistic Director of Patch Theatre Company) in association with The Paper Boats Project, this intimate visual-theatre experience for 4-8 year olds is part performance, part game, part celebration, that engages children in deeply human stories of friendship, play, giving, receiving, sharing and understanding.

Dave Brown says “Especially on Birthdays is a performance that respects children’s intelligence and validates their experience of the world. The performers draw the children into their world and create a very special feeling of intimacy and belonging during the show.” It works to make children feel included, special and excited with a number of children being invited to participate in parts of the show.
