What kind of King would you be?

A naïve boy raised by goatherds is discovered to be heir to the kingdom. Treasures and privileges are laid at his feet, but at what cost to others?

The achingly beautiful and tender language of Oscar Wilde joins the intimate and magical world of Slingsby, in a whimsical and immersive theatre experience for the young and young at heart.

From the moment you arrive for this performance you will be taken on an adventure. Greeted by the King’s Courtiers, you are invited to make your own crown for the Young King’s coronation celebrations.  Here the magic begins, as the tale of The Young King unfolds using beautiful shadow puppetry, music and theatrical delights that will transport you on a journey of wonder.

“There is every chance that this production, like others before it, will tour Australia and the world, and it deserves to. It is a Slingsby production, and that means it is suitable for the entire family, so head in for a magical tale, beautifully told.” – Barry Lenny, Broadway World (29 February 2016)

‘Expect pass-the-parcel, audience participation and role-playing…..The Young King is charming, majestic and utterly delightful.’ Limelight Magazine.

With limited capacity (as seating is on stage) and two performances only, we suggest you book early for this delightful production.

Ages 8+  Warning: Lighting effects, haze and smoke effects.
