Shows on the Road is a touring program by Country Arts SA that brings professional touring performances to regional South Australian communities. We work with existing and emerging South Australian artists and support communities to connect with live performance close to home.
A Community Presenter Group is a community‑based, not for profit group that partners with Country Arts SA to host professional performances in their town.
Groups must be either formally incorporated or work with a confirmed auspicing body, such as a local council or incorporated community organisation, that can administer funds on their behalf.
Presenter Groups take shared responsibility for planning, promotion, and delivery at a local level, with support from Country Arts SA throughout the process.
Each group brings its own local character to events, whether that’s welcoming artists, involving schools and community groups, or creating opportunities for people to come together around a shared experience.
“The shows are brilliant—it’s like having a Fringe show in our town, without the hassle of driving to the city and paying for fuel, parking, and accommodation.”
— Patsy Crabb, Tintinara
“We love bringing new experiences to our community. The shows open the eyes of young students to what’s possible.”
— Cassie Weir, Roxby Downs
As a Community Presenter Group, you support the local delivery of performances.
This includes:
• booking the venue (venue hire costs are covered by Country Arts SA)
• promoting the show locally using supplied marketing materials
• welcoming artists and providing local hospitality
• managing front of house and ticket sales at the door
• in some cases, seeking additional local support or funding
Presenter Groups work in partnership with Country Arts SA, sharing responsibility while receiving guidance and support at each stage.
Country Arts SA manages the core elements of the touring program, including:
