Workshops with Annalise Rees

photo: artist Annalise Rees

There will be a three day drawing, painting and print making  workshop in September with Port Lincoln’s Artist in Residence, Annalise Rees.

Annalise is a qualified  secondary school teacher, was the Head of Drawing at the Adelaide Central School of Art and has had many years of experience working with regional communities.  Annalise’s practice is diverse, working in both two and three dimensions with skills in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture.

The Civic Hall Management Board first met Annalise Rees when she judged the Port Lincoln Art Prize in January this year.  The local drawing group then approached Annalise to run a 1 day workshop.

Those attending this workshop gained so much from the experience they discussed running  a follow up workshop.   The drawing group  wanted to  help others benefit from Annalise’s skills and expertise and so approached  fellow community groups Mifsa – Mental illness fellowship SA and  West Coast Youth Services to collaborate in presenting a three day workshop.
Helen Ware, project coordinator said “Having Annalise facilitate these workshops ensures that we have someone who is sensitive to our needs as a community and who is able to extend and develop skills which in turn can further be shared with our region. Bringing on board Mifsa and West Coast Youth Services with the drawing group has extended our reach in the community.”
