Winner announced for the 2017 Nathaniel O’Brien CLASS OF CABARET Scholarship

Adelaide Festival Centre’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Country Arts SA are thrilled to announce Tascha Jordison of Port Lincoln as the 2017 winner of the Nathaniel O’Brien Class of Cabaret Scholarship.

Tascha will perform at the Port Lincoln Roadshow in May and receive express entry into the 2018 Adelaide Cabaret Festival Class of Cabaret program where she will participate in a group performance at next year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival. The scholarship is valued at over $5,000 including travel, accommodation, and private vocal tuition. In addition, Adelaide Festival Centre’s CentrED program will provide a DECD teacher to guide Jordison to achieve SACE course accreditation.

Tascha Jordison is a natural talent. A year 11 student at Navigator College Port Lincoln, she has been performing folky soulful music with her guitar in Port Lincoln ever since her year six talent show gave her the confidence to pursue her musical dreams.

The Nathaniel O’Brien Class of Cabaret Scholarship was named after Nathaniel O’Brien, a 2013 Class of Cabaret participant and Class of Cabaret Graduate in 2014 who died tragically in 2015. The scholarship honours Nathaniel and provides development opportunities for young performers from regional South Australia. Jordison was honoured to hear from the O’Brien family about her scholarship win when Karen O’Brien commented on her audition video and wished her good luck.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival Regional Roadshow is held in the lead up to Adelaide Cabaret Festival annually. Presented with Country Arts SA, the Roadshow brings renowned Australian cabaret artists to different regions giving locals a taste of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and a spectacular variety evening of hand-picked sequined talent.

Supported by a great band and vivacious host Eddie Bannon, artists performing include Cameron Goodall, Melissa Langton, Mark Jones, Sapphire Snow, and the irreverent Tripod. Prepare for a night of amazing musical prowess, impeccable comedic timing, and captivating characters.
