After successful seasons at Kumuwuki/Big Wave Regional Arts Australia Conference in Goolwa and in the Riverland last year as part of Mental Health Week, Riverland Youth Theatre’s production IN THE DARK heads to the Adelaide Fringe.
The Riverland region sits far from street lamps, shop lights, electic signs and car headlights. The night is lit mainly by starlight and the occasional passing truck lights and farmhouses. Alone in the dark what do you feel? Not knowing what is in front of you or what is behind you? What sounds surround you? The unknown.
In the Dark is a theatrical experiment created with input from 200 Riverland young people, which explores actual and metaphorical darkness and an individual’s capacity to meet fear and the unknown head-on.
IN THE DARK has been proudly supported by Country Arts SA through the Regional Arts Fund, ART SA, Perpetual Trust, and the Office for Youth.
