Celebrating the International Year of the Family Farm
Saturday 5th April to 19th May 2014.
The Alexandrina Farm Gate Festival is now under way!
You are invited to get involved!
Alexandrina Farm Gate Festival is seeking Expressions of Interest from landholders, community and producers groups, artists and creative people who would like to create Gate Art to showcase our farmers, artists and culture. You can register your interest now by completing one of the attached Expression of Interest forms!
The 2014 Alexandrina Farm Gate Festival will recognise and celebrate farming families in the region. It coincides with the UN International Year of Family Farming. This worldwide celebration, declared by the United Nations General Assembly, aims to become a tool to stimulate active policies for sustainable development of agricultural systems based farmer families, communal units, indigenous groups, cooperatives and fishing families.
The 2014 Festival will have a number of elements and innovations.
- Social media will be a feature as we track the development of the gate creators and the creation of the installations.
- A mentor program which will link and connect to isolated people, individuals and groups in the region
- Community and producer groups will have an opportunity to develop art work which tells their story and links to our food and fibre producers
- Farming family history will be shared through the art work and recorded as part of history month 2014
As the Festival draws closer other opportunities to participate will be advertised and will attract a range of sponsors and promotional events.
Please complete the relevant Expression of Interest Forms and be aware you may need to fill in 2 forms; for example if you are a landholder who would like to have a gate at their place and you also want to create your own gate.
Forward your forms to the community organising committee at http://www.farmgatefestival.com.au by 30th June 2012
