The Pretty in Pink exhibition at Yarta Purtli Gallery in Port Augusta is drawing to a close and has been deemed a huge success.
More than 25 artists donated artworks for the exhibition with all sales proceeds going towards breast cancer research.
Country Arts SA’s Port Augusta Arts Officer, Ellenor Day, said the exhibition, curated by local artist Angelique Boots, has been one of the most successful exhibitions at Yarta Purtli for the year in terms of artworks sold. “There have been an incredible number of sales for this exhibition which is great to see as that equates to plenty of dollars raised to support this worthy cause.
Namibian Textile Artist and Fashion Designer, Maria Caley.
“Further funds have also been raised for the Cancer Council SA through the Pink Ribbon Day Lunch & Artist Talk featuring International guest speaker, Maria Caley,” Elenore said.
Namibian based Maria Caley is in South Australia for an exhibition at Nexus Multicultural Centre and generously made time to visit Port Augusta to speak to the community and local artists about her arts practice and career in Namibia.
This visit was made possible by Melanie Harteveld Becker and The National Arts Council of Namibia and plans for further opportunities for cultural exchange between South Australian and Namibian artists are being explored.
The last day of the ‘Pretty in Pink’ exhibition at Yarta Purtli Gallery (6 Beauchamp Lane, Port Augusta) is Saturday 26 October (closing at 1pm).
