Koolunga Nunga Writers Weekend

A first for regional writers was a weekend workshop held at the Aboriginal Writers Retreat in Koolunga  – mid North SA on the 23 and 24 November 2013.

The workshop was held as an annexure to the Clare Writers Festival and was an invitation to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal writers to come together and share stories and fellowship.

Ali Cobby Eckermann and Natalie Harkin were the facilitators of the workshop. Ali runs the writers retreat with outstanding literary success in recent times. Her latest novel Ruby Moonlight has earned her several prestigious awards including 2013 NSW Premiers’ Literary award for Book of the Year.

Many attended the workshop including some Ngarrindjeri women, Rocky River writers’ group, SA Nunga writers’ group, Port Pirie TAFE lecturer and a lecturer from Colombia University in New York.

NITV correspondent Alexis West documented the weekend.

The feedback from participants was wonderful and another event for 2014 is already in the pipeline…watch this space!
