Mid Murray welcomes Tess

Hi, I’d like to introduce myself, my name is Tess Minett.  I have recently commenced in the role of Arts and Cultural Development based at the Mannum District Council Office, a partnership between Mid Murray Council and Country Arts SA.

Mid Murray is a vast geographic region extending along the Murray River up to Morgan and across the plains through Sedan to Truro on the edge of the Barossa.

After 3 decades in  community development, youth work and arts and design fields I’m excited at the prospect of unearthing and facilitating the creative dreams, aspirations, opportunities and development of the citizens of this extensive and beautiful region.

I will be encouraging people to identify and share creative activities they practice, and encourage and foster cultural and artistic growth across the Mid Murray region.

Every area has its’ challenges and I am lucky enough to have found a wee houseboat as my home, so I am available to immerse myself in the culture of the region, the better to understand it (not to mention watching the pelicans cruise quietly for fish while enjoying my breakfast on the back deck ).

A clear understanding of the aims of the two supporting partners has been vital in communications with the many I have met and hope to collaborate with in future. I have hit the ground positively sprinting and am already being greeted warmly for assistance offered and potential project development in the future.
