Sydney singer and songwriter Krista Pav visited the Riverland during this year’s Reconciliation Week in May. Krista Pav is one of Australia’s most refreshing and important contemporary Indigenous songwriters who explores her cultural roots through the reclamation of her Indigenous language, Wangaaypuwan. Krista grew up in Ceduna and Port Lincoln and has family ties to the Riverland region.
Krista spent two days at the Aboriginal Young Women’s Leadership Camp, supporting the participants to create a raw and heartfelt song exploring shame, healing and Reconciliation. Krista then joined the girls on stage at the Chaffey Theatre to perform the song to friends, family and community.
As well as being an outstanding performer and artist, Krista is a dynamic cultural leader who uses music to heal and inspire.
This project was supported by Country Arts SA through a Regional Arts Fund Quick Step grant.
