Youth in Streaky Bay, Ceduna and Wudinna will celebrate by kicking up their heels at their end of year dance performances in September.
Instep Dance, Streaky Bay and districts community dance association has had a landmark year implementing not one but two dance projects in the region in collaboration with community dance groups DanCeduna and Step it Up Wudinna.
The group has had immense success with the Kicking it from the Kerb boys dance project which has “taken the dance to the boys not the boys to the dance”. Using innovation and “out there thinking” the project team were proactive in the Western Eyre region encouraging and empowering young boy’s aged 6 years and over to engage in dance.
Skills and professional development workshops in Bboying and Capoeira were held in Streaky Bay, Ceduna and Wudinna. In total 883 participations in dance has occurred in a range of tailored workshops which were also offered to other sectors in the three communities.
The culminating events in September will be an opportunity for the communities of Streaky Bay, Ceduna and Wudinna to celebrate a great year in dance across the region.
