Tinkering in the garden

Gardens can bring out the creativity in all of us and are a place of wonder and delight for both young and old.

At Mannum High School, teenager Rhyce Highnam has initiated, created and installed decorative features in a small patch near the main entrance.  This garden forms part of several gardens being developed by a small but dedicated team of young students.

At the other end of the spectrum is 80 year old Len and his wife Shirley.  Len has created a uniquely personal garden since his retirement from grader driving. Len and Shirley collect diverse objects which reflect and remind them of special times, activities and memories.

Len creates cameos from his well resourced tinkerers workshop then assembles and installs them in his yard.  Unable to use all fingers productively due to arthritis, Len nevertheless has succeeded in creating an original garden-scape where the couple have enjoyed many hours of pleasure.
