In August BBoy Dreaded (Greg Potticary) will return to Streaky Bay and Ceduna to deliver high powered workshops in BBoying (which incorporates BBoying elements including breaking). FREE Workshops will be offered for all boys, the mentee group and the boys dance crew.
The workshops are part of the Kicking it from the Kerb boys dance project which aims to “take the dance to the boys not the boys to the dance”. Using innovation and “out there thinking” the project team has been proactive in the Western Eyre region encouraging and empowering young boy’s aged 6 years and over to engage in dance.
Bboy Greg Potticary in action
The project has now delivered three rounds of workshops in 2013 with some big outcomes. Renee Johns, Project Manager says “Thanks to the Country Arts SA and Carclew funding and loads of community support we have seen some fantastic outcomes with this project. Three young mentees are leading the way organising a dance crew, developing routines, coming up with costume and stage set ideas and encouraging their peers in dance. It has been wonderful to see these young boys grow in confidence and discover that it is Ok to dance and feel great about it. Everyone is learning from this project.”
