Expressions Dance Company workshops in the Riverland

As part of their national tour,
Expressions Dance Company (EDC), one of Queensland’s leading contemporary dance
companies, will provide intensive contemporary dance workshops for dance
students in the Riverland. Dance school are invited to book one of these
intensives and the best part is that Country Arts SA will deliver it free of
charge to the successful school/s

The workshops are the perfect opportunity for students who
are contemplating future studies in dance, as well as those who are curious to
deepen their understanding of contemporary dance and build new creative skills
and techniques.

Led by the EDC ensemble of dancers, these intensive
workshops will provide your students with an inspiring mixture of contemporary
dance training including technique, choreography and improvisation. Students
will also learn repertoire from some of EDC’s highly acclaimed performances as
well as learning new skills that will give them a competitive edge in
competitions and eisteddfods. The program is designed for experienced dance
students and workshops are limited to 30 students per school

Workshops are offered in the
following programs:

AWAKEN – Introductory program
for ages 12+

Awaken is EDC’s inspiring
introductory program open to those students aged 12 and upward wishing to take
their first plunge into the world of contemporary dance or who would like to
broaden their understanding of the genre. Led by the EDC ensemble of dancers,
these workshops will deliver a unique learning experience and detailed program
focusing on all aspects contemporary dance technique including creativity,
skill development, technique, movement exploration and the discovery of new
ideas about the body and its relationship with movement.  This intensive
provides the perfect platform for students wishing to build all of the skills,
knowledge and confidence they need to embark on their future contemporary dance
studies.

OR

EXPAND: Foundational and pre-tertiary
program for ages 14+

Our Expand program caters for young
aspiring dancers wishing to be inspired by all aspects of contemporary
dance.  We are seeking applications from those aged 15 and upward who are
not yet in tertiary dance training or full-time dance training, but wish to
gather more knowledge and skills. A thorough tailored training program
delivered by the EDC dancers will encourage an ongoing expanding awareness of
the contemporary dance form and the opportunities that it presents for learning
and development. The program provides a stimulating and detailed training
experience in which students can expand on their existing contemporary dance
knowledge, discover new body connections, engage creatively with others, build
confidence and prepare for a future in dance.

The program will be delivered over 3-days;
Thursday 27th June 5pm to 8pm,
Friday 28th June 5pm to 8pm, and
Saturday 29th June 10am to 2pm
