Expanding The Horizon

CONVERSATIONS WITH ARTISTS IN COMMUNITIES

Some of Australia’s leading Community Arts and Cultural Development practitioners will speak about their work and what inspires them at a forum held on February 28 at Sanctuary, Adelaide Zoo.

Presented by Country Arts SA, Expanding the Horizon aims to bring together artists, arts workers, and interested people to join the conversation about community arts and cultural development.

Guest speakers include: Cath Cantlon (SA) Change and Adaptation Program, Country Arts SA, David Doyle (WA) Executive Director, DADAA, Jessica Foster (SA) Emerging CACD Artist, Norm Horton (QLD) Executive Director, Feral Arts, Maria Filippow (VIC) Creative Director, Visionary Images, Bong Ramilo (NT) Executive Officer, Darwin Community Arts.

Arts and Cultural Development Manager and event organiser Kirstie Jamieson said the event is not only an opportunity to hear about what’s happening around Australia but there will also be a chance for regional artists and arts workers to apply for a mentorship with a guest speaker.

“We really encourage regional artists and arts workers to come along and be prepared to expand their thinking about community arts,” she said.

“This forum is the first of regular forums and workshops that will be offered by Country Arts SA over the coming years. We also want to hear about what kind of professional and skills development regional artists and arts workers are wanting. This is your chance to start the conversation at Expanding the Horizon.”
