Exhibition Opportunity: Adelaide Town Hall

South Australian regional artists are invited to submit an expression of interest to exhibit as part of Close to Home, a multidisciplinary exhibition exploring our relationship with the ‘home’.

Following a successful 2014/15 collaboration, Country Arts SA has again partnered with the Adelaide City Council Emerging Curator to facilitate this exciting exhibition. Curator, Joanna Kitto will work with the Visual Arts Coordinator to select up to five (5) regional artists to show alongside selected metro artists in the Adelaide Town Hall Main Foyer from Thursday 14 April—Friday 3 June 2016.

Applications are due no later than 5:00pm Thursday 25 February 2016.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than Friday 4 March 2016.

Exhibition dates: Thursday 14 April – Friday 3 June 2016.

The curators encourage a broad interpretation of the theme of the exhibition. ‘Home’ need not be limited to images of the house; windows and doorways provide interesting links between the public and private, gardens and the natural environment speak both of isolation and safety, travelling far from home talks about the experience of leaving home and new perspectives on what we have left. This is a broad theme and we hope to hear from a wide range of artists, exploring numerous aspects of home.

There is a tight turnaround between selection and exhibition and no artist fee payable, so artists are asked to submit existing works for consideration. Country Arts SA Visual Arts Program will provide assistance with freight costs for regional artists.

Please see the Artist Call Out and Curatorial Rationale for more details.

The expression of interest is only open to residents of regional South Australia.
