ERIC FROST MEMORIAL ARTS AWARD

Eric Frost was a much-loved patron of the arts in the Riverland. Sadly, he was taken from us in an accident in 2012 on his way back from a theatre show.

Waikerie-born Eric’s great love was theatre. He claimed that over the years he attended more than 1,000 shows, many of them at the Chaffey Theatre. Because of his dedication to theatre, management at the Chaffey allocated him his own seat – Row D, Number 21, of which he was very proud and humbled.

It was on his way home from a theatre event that he was in a tragic accident that claimed his life.

In honour of his dedication to the theatre and the community, Country Arts SA and the Chaffey Theatre have set up the annual Eric Frost Memorial Arts Award.

You can nominate someone from the Riverland community who is a strong arts supporter. The recipient, to be announced at the Country Arts SA Season 2015 launch, will receive a ticket to each Country Arts SA Season Mainstage performance in that year and will be seated in Eric Frost’s seat D21.

Chaffey Theatre Manager Sharlene Martin said the award was created to honour Eric who had been a huge part of the theatre.

“Eric was at every event without fail and we loved having him,” she said. “We were so saddened to hear of Eric’s passing. We want to continue his legacy here and we think he would have been very happy that his seat will go every year to someone who appreciated and supported the theatre as much as he did.”
