Artists across the Eyre Peninsula are encouraged to start putting the final touches to land and sea scapes for entry into WestArts ‘Eyrescapes’ Art Prize in October 2015.
Entries close on Friday 18 September. The Art Prize exhibition will be held from Thursday 1 October to Friday 17 October 2015, kicking off Ceduna’s Oysterfest – Celebrating 25 years of West Coast Culture.
In 2015 WestArt, Ceduna’s community arts group are thrilled to again be an integral part of Oysterfest, a genuine grass roots festival celebrating the Far West’s bountiful Seafood Industry on the Labour Day long weekend.
‘Eyrescapes’ Art Prize, 2015 has again drawn record sponsorship from the Council and local businesses with a host of prize categories up for grabs!
Prizes include:
$1,000, First Prize in the Open category sponsored by the District Council of Ceduna
$700, Runner Up in the Open category sponsored by the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel Motel
$300, First Prize 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2015) sponsored by the Ceduna Furniture
$200, Second Prize 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2015) sponsored by the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel Motel
$150, Third Prize 21 years & under (as at June 30, 2015) sponsored by MDK Taxation and Accounting
$200, Peoples Choice Award sponsored by Ceduna Sportspower
$250, (Voucher) First Prize in Photography sponsored by Ken McCarthy Chemplus
$100, Second Prize in Photography sponsored by the Far West Camera Club

Once again we have secured amazing sponsorships from the business community. Our Committee recognises this generous support which underpins our promotion of the arts in the Ceduna region. Country Arts SA’s, Arts and Cultural Development Officer in partnership with the Ceduna Council also give great support for our activities and events. Along with our valuable volunteers it makes it possible to have a vibrant exhibition of quality artworks showcasing artists from across the Eyre Peninsula and, providing them with a chance to sell their works.”
In the lead up to ‘Eyrescapes’ WestArt will collaborate with ArtsUp in Streaky Bay and Country Arts SA to facilitate an innovative community visual arts opportunity with highly regarded artist Annalise Rees.
The Artist in Residency ‘KickstArt’ project funded by the South Australian government through Country Arts SA will be delivered in Ceduna and Streaky Bay from 25 June to 5 July 2015. Connections to place run deep on the Eyre Peninsula. Artists in Western Eyre and encouraged to describe and articulate their attachment to the places we inhabit. In exploring different approaches to art making around the landscape and seascape theme artists will be inspired to create new works.
