2014 Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature – closing Friday 28 June 2013
Introduced in 1986 by the South Australian Government, to celebrate Australia’s writing culture – the Awards are presented every two years during Adelaide Writers’ Week as part of the Adelaide Festival.
Nominations for the following national awards will have been first published between 29/10/11 and 28/6/13 (inclusive).
Children’s Literature Award ($15,000)
For a published book, fiction or non-fiction aimed at readers up to approximately 11 years. The book must have a substantial literary content.
Fiction Award ($15,000)
For a published novel or collection of short stories.
John Bray Poetry Award ($15,000)
For a published collection of poetry. The award honours the late Dr John Bray for his distinguished services to Australian poetry.
Non-Fiction Award ($15,000)
For a published work of non-fiction demonstrating a command of the subject as well as a fluent and outstanding literary style. There is no restriction in this category regarding subject matter.
Young Adult Fiction Award ($15,000)
For a published book of fiction aimed at readers aged approximately 12-18 years.
Late entries will not be accepted.
