Songs from the South Coast – CD LAUNCH CONCERT

The seeds of 10 creative ideas have had water added over the past couple of months to sprout 10 very different songs from 10 very different creative people.

Recorded live at the home of original music on the south coast, the Hotel Elliot, the Compilation CD will be released on August 3rd in concert at Centenary Hall to celebrate this exciting new body of work.

One of the most creative and moving ways to express an idea or tell a story is through the medium of song… there is something essentially beautiful about the resonation and connection of emotions that stirs and connects the human soul.

Under the watchful eyes and warmth radiance of accomplished South Australian songwriters Leigh Marshall, Quentin Eyers, John Baker, Corey Stewart, the effervescent creative Heather Frahn and Project Coordinator Nisa Schebella, these 12 songs, all so different in style and content all have one thing in common, they are original and brewed locally on the south coast.

Each artist has grown in confidence and a number of gems have been unearthed through this process.

Through the process of the workshops and Open Mic nights each artist grew in confidence and a number of precious gems were unearthed.

The young ones glisten with promise as you will hear on this recording… 17 year old Songbird Maggie O’Moore sings her heart out way beyond her years in her offering about misguided love….20 year old Gabe Marshall takes full flight in his guitar composition which takes one a journey somewhere distant but familiar in Drowning Dejavu while Year 12 student Bridget Faure’s regret is vent in her melancholic ode to teenage love in I Miss You.

Jacq Stam gets a little bit country with her tune I’ve Been There Too whilst Annie Ackland-Prpic remembers fondly her brush with royalty when Prince Charles and the late Lady Di rode the ‘Royal’ Cockle Train.

The passion and energy of Heather Seyhun’s prayer What About Tomorrow? and Clancy Retallicks’ connection to coastline in One Ocean One People are inspiring…..both self-taught musicians and abundantly talented.

Maria McGill’s flirtatious musings on love by the sea are explored in Pelican Junction along with surfers Mic Holt and Jim Raz who sing about their true loves….of women and the waves in Novi and On Padman.

To accompany the Home Brew participants and bring their raw songs into full bloom as well as selection of their own songs, will be the mentors as well as a select group of South Coast musicians including the amazing percussion group the Bongo Sistas.

Tickets can be purchased via the Goolwa Information Visitor Centre on 1300 466 592 or at the door.

The CD will be for sale on the evening and afterwards at selected outlets for $10 with all proceeds going back into Home Brew as an ongoing performance based community project under the auspices of the Port Elliot Town & Foreshore Association’s Arts & Cultural Development Committee.
