Bringing stories to screen: Producing workshop for First Nations filmmakers
Emerging and mid-career First Nations producers are invited to a free, three-day workshop in Adelaide this August with two of Australia’s successful producers hosted by Country Arts SA.
Run by experienced film producer Caro Johnson and First Nations Art & Culture Manager Josh Trevorrow, this immersive workshop will guide participants through the foundations of professional producing – from developing a compelling story and crafting a pitch to navigating funding bodies, finance plans and the legal framework of business.
The workshop is tailored specifically for documentary and drama projects, across all platforms including cinema, streaming and online. Participants will develop important selling tools such as loglines, synopses, treatments and pitch reels. They will also gain practical insights into raising and managing production finance through a mix of equity, loans, grants, and offsets.
This opportunity is designed to elevate the work of First Nations producers and provide tangible pathways to bring stories to screen.
