BBoying ramps up

Young boys in Western Eyre are gearing up for the next round of dance workshops with BBoy Dreaded when the Kicking it from the Kerb boys dance project rolls into the region next week.  On offer will be another three days of FREE dance workshops from Monday May 20 to Wednesday May 22 in Streaky Bay and Ceduna.

The Kicking it from the Kerb project is “taking the dance to the boys not the boys to the dance” using innovation and “out there thinking” to re-engage, encourage, enable and empower young boys ages 6 years & over in the region to take up dance.

Cubs and Scouts trying BBoying

This comes hot on the heels of the first visit in early April when BBoy (Greg Potticary) and Chan Griffin delivered high powered workshops in BBoying (which incorporates BBoying elements including breaking) and Capoeira (a form of martial arts combined with dance and music) in Ceduna, Streaky Bay and Wudinna.

Participation rates were exceptionally high with approximately 182  people from across the region, taking part.

Project Coordinator Renee Johns  says, “Each visit brings more stakeholders on board as interest in the project grows.  This is opening up even more opportunity for boys to dance in our region.  Greg is such a great workshop instructor and we are hoping that lot of young boys get along to experience the highly charged and fun dance medium of BBoying”.
