Project and Program Manager
Working closely with the Arts and Culture Leader, the Project and Program Manager is responsible for the oversight, delivery and management of Country Arts SA mainstage programme of produced and presented projects. You will lead and manage the Arts Programming team, build creative partnerships with artists and presenters and work closely with the Arts Centre team to integrate Mainstage activity and regional touring. You will be responsible for setting and managing programming budgets and responsible for achieving ambitious audience and financial targets.
This 1 FTE role is being offered as a 6-month term contract at AS06. The role is based in Port Adelaide.
About the Role
The role will be well suited to an individual experienced in identifying and generating a programme of work that realises the artistic vision and strategic ambitions of Country Arts SA, ensuring inclusivity, diversity and sustainability are core elements of our work.
The ability to manage and maintain relationships with companies, artists and venues and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and the wider sector to innovate and deliver new and existing programmes. The successful applicant will also take pride in being an ambassador for Country Arts SA, knowing that their work is helping to enhance Country Arts SA’s impact and reach locally and nationally.
Your duties include:
- Lead produce and programme, including leading on the planning, development negotiation and management a range of tours including at a national and community level.
- Proactively seek investment and co-producers, maintain relationships with companies and artists, and create opportunities for new work.
- Develop and oversee a framework for the creation of new work that ensure First Nation and diverse representation across all artforms
- Negotiating, contracting and managing creative teams
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to devise and deliver audience development and engagement initiatives
- Ensure the artistic vision is clearly articulated and the balance is maintained between creative ambitions and financial sustainability.
- Prepare funding applications, support letters and acquittals as required
We are looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience of producing professional theatre productions
- Experience of programming theatre and performance events within a venue
- Experience of leading, managing and collaborating with teams of artistic and producing staff
- Experience of co-production and successful partnership working
- Experience of creating, managing and monitoring budgets
- Experience of contracting artists and companies including use of LPA agreements
- Demonstrable line management experience, including the ability to effectively support the continuing professional development of team members.
- A confident understanding of a wide range of producing processes, including production and project management, budget management and negotiation
- A collaborative approach with a commitment to work as part of a team to build and share knowledge that contributes to positive team culture.
- Experience and sensitivity to working in regional communities
Special conditions:
- This role requires a National Police Check clearance and a current Australian driver’s licence
- Participation in Country Arts SA Staff Development Review Process is required
- Out of hours business work, Intrastate and interstate travel will be required.
