Loxton High School art students came up trumps in Fab Lab Adelaide’s recent Design Your Own Skateboard Deck competition.
The competition was part of Fab Lab Adelaide’s “Think It, Make It, Share It” exhibition held at the River Lands Gallery in February.
“Think It, Make It, Share It” was a wonderful demonstration of artwork design through new technology, most prominently 3d printing and laser etching.
Riverland school students were invited to submit designs that could be laser etched onto a skate board deck.
Joint winners Regan Williams and Chynae Gibson each received a skateboard deck laser etched with their own design by The Engraving Crew.
The six Highly Commended entries were also students from Loxton Highschool and each student received a laser etched mini board with their own designs.
Riverland Artsand Cultural Development Officer, Rebecca Farrant says “This is a great way to involve local students in statewide exhibitions exploring new approaches to art and design.
Our Riverland teachers like Loxton High School’s Penny Gill are often in conversation with Country Arts SA and the River Lands Gallery to make the most of any arts opportunities for their students.”
