Country Arts SA recognises that we are living and creating on First Nations Lands and we are committed to working together to honour their living cultures.
In 2013, Country Arts SA was the only South Australian organisation to receive funding from the Australia Council through the Community Partnerships Key Producer program.
Flow, a local Riverland project lead by ex Riverland Youth Theatre Artistic Director Olivia Allen, will gather stories from the diverse community of the Riverland reflecting their personal, cultural, and historical interaction with water. The stories will capture the daily rituals around water, memories of its enjoyment as well as stories of survival and devastation caused by its destructive power.
A large scale sculptural installation created by the Riverland community will be set amongst the surroundings of the McCormick Centre wetlands, which can be enjoyed simultaneously with the sounds, and stories of water as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival in August and September 2014.
Artist Kathryn Sproul (Oz Asia Moon Lantern Festival) will lead weaving workshops with Riverland artists and community members weekly, which will form the textile sculpture.
