Whyalla Film Festival 2019

90 minutes

About

After the success of the Whyalla Film Festival in collaboration with the Adelaide Film Festival in recent years, Whyalla City Council and Country Arts SA present the first independent Whyalla Film Festival. This year’s festival was curated by local film lovers, Michal Hughes and Michael Parsons, and features only content made in Whyalla and its surrounding areas or made about Whyalla.

The four short films to be screened are Life Lessons, an intergenerational documentary by D’faces of Youth Arts and Whyalla Aged Care, Jonathan Bird’s Blue World – Giant Cuttlefish, Metamorphis, an art film by Leith O’Malley, and Welcome to Iron Knob, a short feature about the aftermath of a boy accidentally shooting a stranger with his father’s gun.

The Whyalla Film Festival will also screen the winning entries into the 60 Second Film Festival, and an animation exhibition of Whyalla Weirdness, a collection of quirky tales about Whyalla’s history, made by Whyalla grown artist Michael Rostig using artworks developed in workshops with local school students.
