Creating art and conversations in Regional South Australia
Euphoria was developed through a socially engaged arts practice over two years. Regional communities across South Australia shared their thoughts on the script before the final draft was complete. This confirmed the regional tale, although fictional, was authentic and true to the communities it represented.
Here are some ringing endorsements by regional audience members who saw Euphoria live.
“Thank you for providing an honest, realistic portrayal of mental health issues in rural areas. You nailed it! Performances like yours encourage conversation and with conversation comes understanding.” Streaky Bay audience member
“The work was beautifully crafted and performed. I laughed, I cried and it made me feel a renewed sense that I’m ok.” – Riverland audience member
“The work felt very authentic to those of us with lived experience of life in regional towns, they have done their research well over two years.” – Riverland audience member
“The characters verbalised thoughts I have had in my own head about experiencing mental health issues. Hearing this said aloud made me feel less abnormal and alone.” – Riverland audience member
