About Our First Nations Program
Our First Nations Engagement program supports First Nations artists to tell their stories using both traditional and new artforms. Our program helps youth reconnect with their culture through art and encourages more people to participate in art based activities.

Country Arts SA first released a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) that covered 2014-2016. In 2018 we released our current 2018-2020 Stretch RAP and our currently in the process of devising our next Stretch.

Country Arts SA is committed to the continued development of its First Nations program and in 2011 established a First Nations Reference Group to support the program.

Kaurna and Narungga woman Nikki Ashby is Country Arts SA’s First Nations Creative Producer based out of Port Pirie. The role started in February 2020 and is responsible for creating new arts experiences led by First Nations artists and communities statewide across regional South Australia and for supporting artists to develop their craft and build their careers.
