Arts & Mental Health Framework
Since 2008 Country Arts SA has evolved a strong working partnership with Country Health SA Mental Health Services, partnering to provide an Arts and Mental Officer based in southern Eyre Peninsula at Port Lincoln. This successful collaboration has led to both partners developing a state-wide framework for Arts & Mental.
In 2013 a three year partnership agreement was signed with Country Health SA. Our shared Arts and Mental Health program now focuses on state wide development through a network of regional Arts and Cultural Development Officers and Mental Health Services Officers through Local Health Networks. The partnership is managed by an Arts and Mental Health Steering Committee involving Country Arts SA and Country Health / Mental Health Services staff. The Steering Committee will continue to develop artist and mental health client participation within the committee and encourage local reference groups and networks for project development. The Steering Committee has chosen as a first priority, to focus on development within Mt Gambier, Whyalla and Pt Lincoln. The Arts and Mental Health program is also establishing an evaluation framework for the program. Guidelines for artists working within mental health contexts and with community participants experiencing mental health issues are also being developed.
