The Regional Film Festival is an annual event, celebrating regional creatives and SA film, born from the Whyalla Film Festival in 2021 after the reach outgrew the name.. The festival also coordinates the 60 Second Film Festival, through which young film makers can attend workshops, develop their skills, and have the chance to see their work on the big screen.
The RFF has developed a strong community of patrons who support all events and workshops, and we have been able to give back by supporting young film makers by screening their short film content, employing them as artists, and providing professional development opportunities.
The 2021 Regional Festival is bringing a program of diverse and interesting Australian content to the MAC screen. The 2021 program is showcasing feature film content alongside wonderful independent South Australian short films, and the 60 Second Film Festival winning films. The RFF is proud to combine local and professional cinema content on the big screen, giving young regional film makers a voice and a platform for them to tell their stories, and celebrating South Australian film. It is vital that young people are given the chance to tell their stories and engage with other narratives that interest and engage them, particularly in the regions where young voices can be left behind.
