Tony Sharley is a proud Riverlander with a passion for a healthy Murray River. In 1999 Tony became the Manager of Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre and led the process of restoration of Banrock Station’s wetlands and its listing as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. In 10 years he helped Banrock Station wines build an international wine brand with a reputation for environmental leadership, sponsoring more than 100 environmental projects in 14 countries. Today, Banrock Station is a destination for all who visit the Riverland.

Tony has followed his interests into regional tourism and recently resigned as General Manager of Destination Riverland to establish the Murray River Walk, a 4 day 3 night journey walking and cruising along the river and its islands above Renmark, retiring each day to a comfortable houseboat bed, a shower and a hot spa, and a 3 course meal.

His skills have contributed to the governance of Regional Development Australia – Murraylands and Riverland, and today he sits on the Boards of the RAA, Nature Foundation SA, Country Arts SA and the Conservation and Hunting Alliance of SA.
