Early June 2015 ushered in a new era for street life in Mannum and the Mid Murray Council in the Murraylands.
A new Busking Policy developed by Mannums’ Main Street Committee with facilitation from Tess Minett, Arts and Cultural Development Officer, Mid Murray Council has been initiated.
The new policy had a resoundingly successful road test at the Mannum Truck and Ute Show on the 7 June with a debut duet by Mannum musicians Emma Schlueter and Ben Meinl.
Designed to bring extra life to the public spaces of Mid Murrays’ 12 population centres the policy will foster and enable performance opportunities across the region.
Local musicians were pleased with the response at the opening busking event, The crowd proclaimed their support by showing their gratitude in the time honoured way; making it a financial success as well.
Mid Murray Council intend to promote the policy and guidelines in the coming months.
