Young dance participants in Streaky Bay and Ceduna were left exhilarated and buoyed after a week-long visit by the Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) from Thursday 22 October 2015.
Community dance groups Instep Dance and DanCeduna joined forces to forge a new intrastate partnership with the ADT in an exciting and innovative project ‘Dance Partners City to Coast.’

The ADT undertook FREE workshops in 5 schools and the community. A total of 378 participants from ages 4 to 18 had workshops dance skills development. A further 15 apprentice group and adult instructors undertook intensive and tailored professional development in dance.
700 people were engaged in audience development seeing the dramatic and highly expressive dance performance “The Butcher” throughout the five day visit.
Jayne Holland, Arts and Cultural Development Officer, Country Arts SA says, “The Dance partners City to Coast project was such a success because the dance and wider communities really got behind it. The dance groups took on board so much new knowledge and ways of working. The ADT were extremely professional and innovative to creatively share their skills and knowledge. It is hoped that the connection with will continue into the future.”
