Arts and Mental Health Workshops to be held in Adelaide!

Country Arts SA and Country Health SA Local Health Network Mental Health have been delivering workshops on ‘Bringing it all together’ – Guidelines for Arts and Mental Health Projects across South Australia from July. We are pleased to announce that in September new workshops will be held in Modbury and Port Noarlunga.

These workshops are for artists, mental health workers, occupational therapists, non-government and not-for-profit organisations working in mental health and will assist in the planning and delivery of arts and mental health projects.

Participants learn about the symbiotic relationship between arts and mental health, planning and managing projects and meet others from different sectors to broaden their knowledge and generate new ideas. Examples of case studies are used to promote interactive learning.

Participants from Berri, Mount Gambier and Whyalla said the workshops “provide structure and reinforce the importance of art in Mental Health”, “it is a useful guise for planning and having a guide for best practice and also raising awareness of mental health” and “increase awareness of support available and framework to begin a project; it is absolutely essential to help make art projects be recognised as an crucial wellbeing tool in all communities”.

The new Arts and Mental Health resource “Bringing it all Together – Guidelines for Arts and Mental Health” will be unveiled and participants will also be given a kit of resources for future reference and support of practice and projects.
