Plug n Play, Mash Up or Jam….
Are you aged 15 to 30, live in the Murray Bridge area and are up for mastering digital art skills? If you answered yes, then Dexter has been developed for, around and all about you.
Dexter is a series of skill exchanges where you can meet and play with some of the state’s best and most prolific digital artists.
Dexter makes the hardest button to push easy with informal mix ups, chats and activities that will help the budding maker and do-er in you create networks and potential life career connections.
It's a once in life time opportunity to get your creative mojo out there and noticed - you never know what might transpire!
From Beats, House, Breaks, Drum & Bass, Dubstep or Hip Hop in 4 Many DJ’s, ridiculous video mash ups and live manipulation through VJ5ive or the opportunity to explore time lapse and stop motion techniques in Photography 101, Dexter will flick you in and out of digital realms you never dreamed existed.
All sessions are suitable for ages 15 yrs and up. For the mature young person or the young at heart – delve in and get digitally dirty – THE FUTURE IS NOW!

Originally from Germany Marc Gierke moved to Australia in 2005 and for the last eight years has been combining his passion for digital film making and skateboarding. Studying digital film making at the SAE institute in Hamburg (Germany) he has been producing many skateboard videos most of them for Daily Grind, the biggest skateboard retailer in S.A.

4 Many DJ’s
Whether it’s Beats, House, Breaks, Drum and Bass, Dubstep or Hip Hop, the Station will be turned into a DJ’s paradise with the speaker stacks up and decks ready for dropping beats. Turntables, CDJ’s and DJ software will be available for participants to practice their beat mixing, double drops and tweaks. Bring your vinyl, CD’s and mp3’s and put your name forward to participate in ‘vs’ sessions. The ins and outs of DJ culture from the practicalities of equipment set up and care to the dos and don’ts of DJ etiquette will be imparted from some of Adelaide’s most current gigging DJ’s.
Batch, DJon, Havok, RAAF and Wellbeing, have massive DJ and dance music production experience! Between them they have played large events such Enchanted, Summer Breaks, Shores On A News Years Day, released records on overseas labels, and been played by some of the big names across the world and often heard regularly on Fresh FM.

Ever wondered what a photoblog was? Just what is Flickr anyway? Photoblogging (the action of posting photos to a photoblog) has gained momentum since the early 2000s, and photo-sharing and publishing over the internet has hit the big time with Facebook. This introductory session is great for beginners or people just wanting to learn a little more about their digital cameras and how to share their pixels of love.
Mike Lim teaches photography at TAFE and the Centre of Creative Photography. He has worked a freelance photographer and has been a tutor in screen studies and media.

Participants are encouraged to bring their digital cameras, cameraphones (and laptops if they have one).
3 Minute Movs
Multi award-winner Chris Houghton will introduce you to short film storytelling whilst getting you to understand the technical capabilities of your camera at the same time. Explore camera angles, lenses, lighting and production design, storyboards and learn how to articulate your vision and technically achieve it. Participants will work in small teams to script, shoot and edit (in-camera) a silent movie. The workshops will also include an introduction to sound scapes to create mood and effects.
Chris’s latest film Swing, premiered at the 2007 Adelaide Film Festival where it won the audience award for ‘Best Short Film. It also took out the Best Short Film Award at St Kilda Film Festival and was nominated for Best Shot Film at 2007 Loreal Paris AFI Awards.
