Snapshot
Curated By Melentie Pandilovski -Director, Experimental Art Foundation

Snapshot is no longer touring

The cutting edge exhibition Snapshot will showcase works by some of South Australia’s most innovative
contemporary artists.

Capturing the youthful spirit of experimentation with media, message and style which characterize an emerging generation of artists’ approaches to what art can be or should be saying in the 21st century, Snapshot is a challenging and fun exhibition.

Snapshot is an exhibition that defies current trends and directions in contemporary South Australian art, through the 23 artists’ use of diverse media including oil, automotive paint, polyester resin or acrylic on canvas.

Snapshot

Snapshot is cutting edge. It is challenging and fun. It captures the youthful spirit of experiment with media, message and style which characterizes an emerging generation of artists’ approach to what art can be or should be saying in the 21st century.

SNAPSHOT consists of 23 art works by some of South Australia’s most innovative contemporary artists. Art media is very diverse including oil, automotive paint, polyester resin or acrylic on canvas and other supports and textiles.

The exhibition includes DVD works and works produced using photographic and computer ink jet technologies. Sculptural works have been made from found objects.

A number of works reflect close links with print and digital media and communication technologies. It offers students unique opportunities to expand knowledge of contemporary art practice, study the impact of recent and emerging technologies and engage with issues related to social change and the role of art within contemporary society.

The Education recource contains interviews with artists currently living and working in South Australia and is therefore particularly useful for teachers talking to their students about career pathways in the visual arts.
