My Sacrum
Polish artist Grazyna Tranda’s works consist of tapestries, woven miniatures, drawings and spatial compositions that have references to the world of sewing, weaving and fibres. Inspired by man’s built forms through the architecture of the past, Grazyna focuses not only on the facades of historical buildings, but also on the context in which they were built. Her works are comprised of graphic elements which are precisely connected in structure - Grazyna’s way of understanding art in a contemporary world.
Finished panels alongside drawings and other designs provide an insight into how some artists plan and process their ideas. Looking at the original woven miniatures students will gain an understanding of the technical skill required to not only create compositions but to inflect them with a distinctive delicate style.
It also provides learning opportunities for examining places and spaces, culture and folktales, geometry and design.
