Community Partnerships Funding program
Country Arts SA on behalf of the Australia Council for the Arts provides information and advice to regional South Australia about the Community Partnerships Funding program.
Below is a brief introduction to Community Partnerships Grants and Initiatives offered by the Australia Council in 2010.

Applicants are strongly advised to contact community partnerships staff before submitting an application to discuss their project and the most appropriate funding round in which to lodge their application.
The community partnerships committee supports a number of priority areas that cover a range of geographic, demographic and social contexts. These priority areas serve to focus effective use of the resources of community partnerships and include regional Australia, disability, young people, cultural diversity, emerging communities, Indigenous people, remote Indigenous communities and specific critical social and cultural issues requiring focused attention.

Projects may start: two weeks after official notification
Partnership development provides funding of up to $5,000 to assist artists, groups, or organisations to undertake further development and/or extension of effective partnerships.
This category supports the development of partnerships between arts and non-arts sectors that seek to achieve community arts and cultural development outcomes in one or more of the community partnerships priority areas. It does not support professional development, presentation and promotion, or project production.
- Creative Communities’ Partnerships, Community Partnerships
No closing date: Applications will be accepted at any time throughout the year.
Amount: $50,000 to $600,000
Creative communities’ partnerships support major community arts and cultural development projects of excellence that deliver to community partnerships priority areas, align arts and non-arts partners and have clear outcomes that extend beyond the life of the project. The first phase of the application involves discussing the project with community partnerships staff and submitting a proof of concept. The second phase follows an invitation to present a full written application.
Creative communities partnerships support opportunities for Australians to participate in meaningful arts and cultural activities in the places where they live, encouraging innovation and enhancing community wellbeing.
Proposals may include a range of diverse but related activities and are for total amounts between $50,000 and $600,000, with a maximum of $200,000 in any one year. Projects can be longer than a year, and must be completed by 30 June 2012
- JUMP, all artforms

The JUMP National Mentoring Program for Young and Emerging Artists supports the career development of artists aged 18-30, and in the first five years of their professional practice, by providing mentoring opportunities with established professionals in their artform.
Mentored artists receive funding of up to $5,000 for a creative concept, to be realised through a one on one relationship with their chosen mentor, and access to a range of professional development, showcasing and networking activities.
The JUMP program aims to promote excellence in artistic practice across artforms, and facilitate pathways for geographically and culturally diverse artists, in order to identify and champion Australia’s next generation of arts industry leaders.

Amount: up to $20,000
Project or professional development grants provide funding of up to $20,000 for one-off community arts and cultural development projects that involve a range of collaborating partners, and may or may not have a public outcome.
For the purpose of this category, the term ‘partners’ refers to individuals or organisations that will help make the project happen. The partners will work in collaboration with the applicant, towards a shared vision and may contribute financially or in kind to the project.
Individual artists and arts workers seeking support for professional development opportunities in community arts and cultural development should also apply to this category.

- Projects with Public Outcomes, Community Partnerships
Applications close: 2 March, 25 May and 7 September 2010
Decisions advised: May, August and November 2010
Amount: $20,000 to $35,000
Projects with public outcomes grants support community arts and cultural development projects that involve partners across sectors and have strong public participation outcomes. Individual, groups or organisations are welcome to apply, provided they have sought financial support or co-funding from other sources.
- ArtStart, Community Partnerships
Closing date: 8 March and 4 October 2010

Start date: 1 July 2010 – finish date 30 June 2011 and 1 Jan 2011 – finish date 31 Dec 2010
Amount: Up to $10,000
The ArtStart program provides financial assistance to recent creative arts graduates* who are committed to establishing a career as a professional artist. Graduates who plan to earn income or gain employment as a professional artist in the visual arts, hybrid and media arts, performing arts, literature or in community arts and cultural development may apply via the online application process.
- Creative Producer, Community Partnerships

Projects may start: 1 January 2011
Amount: $45,000
Creative producer grants will be offered to individual producers to deliver community arts and cultural development projects, which engage artists and communities in the creation and presentation of new artistic works.
In 2010, community partnerships is offering support for up to two creative producers. Each producer will receive a $45,000 stipend towards their personal expenses for a 12 month period.
Applicants will also be able to access project money of up to $35,000 to realise the proposed activities. Successful applicants will need to provide project budgets indicating how funds are to be allocated by March 2011. Applicants are encouraged to seek funding from other sources to support their projects.

- Kirk Robson Awards, Community Partnerships

Amount: $10,000
The Kirk Robson Awards recognise leadership among young community arts and culture practitioners.
Named for community cultural leader Kirk Robson, whose life was cut short tragically in 2005, the Kirk Robson Awards acknowledge leadership in community cultural development in the areas of inclusiveness, consensus, self-determination, reconciliation and social justice.
The award is worth $10,000 per recipient with up to three nominations being awarded. Artists and arts workers aged 30 and under can be nominated for the award.

- Ros Bower Award, Community Partnerships

Amount: $50,000
The Ros Bower Award honours an artsworker or artist with a proven record of high achievement in the field of community cultural development.
Community partnerships and the Ros Bower Memorial Trust offers the Ros Bower award, worth $50,000.
This award recognises distinguished effort in fostering and furthering the philosophies and principles espoused by Rosalie (Ros) Bower, founding director of the former community arts board of the Australia Council.
This is an annual award made to an individual artist or arts worker and the community partnerships committee does not require the nominee to specify how the award will be spent.

Program grants provide support for significant community arts and cultural development programs consisting of a range of projects, targeting a variety of different groups and engaging a number of cross-sectoral partners. Funding is for the 2011 calendar year.
